Changing a life costs as much your one day’s salary or forgoing one meal out with your friends.………………..

 Even today,

Women living in slums and villages continue to deliver in their homes and get no medical help through their pregnancy.

People have to travel long distances to treat even a small fever

Small children suffer from anaemia and illness that can be prevented

More than one child dies every minute. Almost 2,500 newborn children die every day. Almost 9,00,000 newborn children die every year in India

Shocking but true. At a time when we boast of the latest medical facilities and equipment available in our cities, they are large number of people living not very far from us, who struggle to access even basic health facilities. Despite the government’s efforts in bringing quality health to all, there remain remote and hard to reach areas where public health facilities do not exist within a close geographical proximity. While private facilities are there, they are often too expensive. The close public health centers are often located at an average distance of 10-15 kms. The wages forgone in reaching these facilities, costs of transport and the possibility of not even finding the doctor when one reached there pushes many people to either suffer in silence  or seek treatment from quacks. This is especially true for commonplace illness and conditions that often go unnoticed for a period of time, such as, anemia.

Would you like to help us change this?

You can make a big difference in the lives of the many underprivileged people by forgoing just one day’s pay. We at Sukarya work to improve the health and well being of the underprivileged persons living in the slums and villages of Gurgaon, with a firm focus on women and children. Our approach is two pronged- at one level, we build awareness and empower communities with essential information regarding key health issues and simple ways to live a healthy life. At the second level, we work to strengthen the delivery of key health services, by providing quality services through community health centers, health camps and mobile clinics.

The Joy of Giving Week, held every year, offers citizens like you to come forward and help make a difference. The Joy of Giving Week is India’s “Festival of Giving”!
